Hey Baby it's the 4th of July

I was trying to come up with some fancy cocktails in patriotic colors to put on this here blog. But, after several minutes of pondering, I decided instead to put up the recipe to one of my very favorite cocktails of all time. A 19th Century New Orleans staple and also rumored to be Frank Sinatra's favorite cocktail...drum roll...

The Ramos Gin Fizz

2oz Beefeater
1/2 oz Lemon juice
1/2 oz Lime juice
1 oz Simple Syrup
1 oz Cream
1 Egg White
5 drops Orange Flower Water (found in the baking section of most grocery stores)

We are looking for a big frothy head at the end of this process. Build in cocktail shaker and give a good pre-ice shake (also known as a mime shake), this should help incorporate the egg white. Add scoop of ice and shake in cocktail shaker approximately 1-2 minutes, or until ice emulsifies. Strain into Collins glass and top with chilled soda. For added effect, garnish with red and blue berries. P.S. This can be a very labor intensive drink. Make sure to have plenty of extra hands near by for shaking.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Independence Day!
